First, you have to activate your parent's dashboard.
-To do this, go to the email animal jam hq sent you when you first joined and click on the link they give you to activate your parents dashboard.
-Then after setting up the parents dashboard, log into the parents account. IN CASE YOU NEED HELP ACTIVATING OR GETTING INTO THE DASHBOARD HERE IS A SITE http://help.animaljam.com/entries/21443131-How-Do-I-Get-Safe-Free-Chat-
-In the parents account, look for the account you want free chat for (just in case you have multiple accounts) and you will see on the right of the data info for your account there is a type of chat list.
-Select the bubble that says safe chat DO NOT CLICK THE BUBBLE THAT SAYS RESTRICTED OR BUBBLE
